Relevant canine lymphoma modelDue to its many
similarities with human non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (intact immune system,
genetic interactions, equivalent environmental exposures, diagnostic
protocols), canine lymphoma is increasingly being considered as a model for
comparative medicine in immuno-oncology (1).

All the
major immunotherapy families are being explored in the treatment of canine
lymphoma (2):- Monoclonal
antibodies promote direct or indirect cancer cell death, - Adoptive
cell transfer uses the patient's own cells to induce antitumor activity, - Oncolytic
virotherapy uses a replication-competent virus to eliminate cancer,- Immunomodulators
aim to boost immune responses and tumor control,- Vaccines
stimulate the patient's immune system against cancer cells. However, for
a variety of economic and/or regulatory reasons, not all of them have access to
the veterinary market.

APAVAC®
autologous vaccination available:
Hastim®
provides to the veterinarians a kit with all components which permit to do an
extemporaneous preparation, based on a sample of around 1 cm3 of tumor
biopsy (500 mg). The
principle consists in selecting, concentrating and fixing tumor antigens,
combined with heat shock proteins, on a hydroxyapatite support, which is then
injected into the animal according to a precise vaccination schedule.This
personalized, pain-free immunotherapy, which respects the animal's
body with no side effects, is considered a standard in the treatment of canine
diffuse large-cell B lymphoma, in association with low therapeutic index
chemotherapy(3-5).
